2011 - Just Love?

JUST LOVE billboard A

On Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 Marriage Equality launched our "Just Love?" campaign to highlight the discrimination that same-sex couples in Ireland continue to experience as a result of the lack of marriage equality. Although civil partnership, introduced at the beginning of 2011, offers legal recognition to same sex couples relationships as well as many of the rights and obligations that are available to married couples, there is still some work to be done to reach our ultimate goal of equality for same sex couples, our families and our children.

The "Just Love?" campaign featured posters and billboards at strategic locations across Dublin city, as well as being distributed online, and nationwide through print media. The posters showed real couples and families, and highlighted the continued, urgent need for equality for same-sex couples, our families and our children.  The campaign also featured the launch of our latest short film Rory's Story and Missing Pieces, a marriage audit report detailing 169 legislative differences between civil partnership and marriage.

Why "Just Love"?

In essence, the argument for marriage equality boils down to 2 things - love, and justice. The definition of "just" is:

  1. guided by truth, reason, justice and fairness
  2. done or made according to principle; equitable; proper
  3. based on right; rightful; lawful
  4. in keeping with truth or fact; true; correct
  5. given or awarded rightly; deserved
  6. in accordance with standards or requirements; proper or right
  7. actual, real or genuine

Our fight for equality is about doing the right thing - for couples, children and families all over Ireland. Anything other than equality is not just.

After all... it's just love.

We would love to be able to see our billboards and posters on streets all across Ireland. Could you help us roll out our posters and billboards nationwide? Please click here to donate to our campaign.
