16 April 2012, 5:30 PM

Are you a filmmaker passionate about human rights?

Submit your original human rights short to the 2012 ICCL Human Rights Film Awards, Ireland's only human rights short film competition.

The work of five finalists will be screened as part of a Gala Awards evening in Dublin in summer 2012. A Grand Prize winner will be selected by our star Jury, which features a wealth of award-winning Irish film talent, including Kirsten Sheridan, Rebecca Miller, Tomm Moore, Ken Wardrop and Victoria Smurfit.

The deadline for entries is Monday, 16 April 2012.

Now in its fourth year, the Human Rights Film Awards provides film students, filmmakers and those working in human rights with an opportunity to contribute to human rights discourse in Ireland, grappling with issues which affect some of the most vulnerable members of Irish society through the medium of film.

Over the past three years, the competition has produced a wealth of outstanding shortlisted films which cast light on a range of human rights issues in new and creative ways.

Full details of how to apply, shortlisted films from past competitions, and updates on prizes and Jury membership are available on the competition website - www.humanrightsfilmawards.org. For more information, please contact Walter, Karen or Aoife at filmawards@iccl.ie.
