The Time for Marriage Equality is Now - Why Talking To Your TD Matters
On Wednesday, June 27th, Marriage Equality supporters gathered in Café Joly in the National Library to learn more about our TD campaign.
The evening addressed issues like why visiting your TD is so important, how it really can make a big difference to the campaign, and what to say when you do visit a TD in his or her constituency clinic.
We were delighted to have such an informative panel of speakers, including:
Deputy Jerry Buttimer, TD (Fine Gael - Cork South Central)
Deputy John Lyons, TD (Labour - Dublin North West)
Ronan Farren (Political Consultant)
Paul Dowling (Marriage Equality volunteer)
Moninne Griffith (Marriage Equality Director)
All of our speakers shared incredibly valuable insights about every stage of the campaign - from why NOW is such a crucial time for Marriage Equality, to what actually happens when you go and visit your TDs, to how the TDs themselves feel about people coming to visit them and what a real difference it can make!
We'd also like to say a huge thank you to Bronwyn Bailey and Michael O'Malley of Café Joly for hosting this event, Ali Stewart and Darren Byrne for their excellent sign language interpretation, and to Paula Geraghty for filming on the night and putting together a wonderful video.
