Laura Duggan & Mary O'Sullivan

On the 1st of May 2011, Laura and her partner Mary O'Sullivan participated in a 26.2miles/42km marathon in and around Limerick City.

"Both as a gay couple ourselves, and as supporters of basic equal human rights for all, we have been avid supporters of Marriage Equality for some time now and unfortunately as victims of discrimination of the current law.

It is easy to think that we have moved past this. But the reality is that we haven't. Our laws are not equal and it's up to us to push our politicians to address this and make sure that everyone is treated equally and has the right to marry the person that they love. Our complacency will only allow the problem to continue longer. It is for these reasons I am hoping to raise some money and awareness for the cause of marriage equality in Ireland.

Training for the Limerick Marathon has been a real challenge for us, both mentally and physically. My training started in early January 2011 as I ran schools-level cross country before, and Mary started way back in November as a complete beginner. So we've been racking up the miles week by week around Tralee ever since! We would very much appreciate any donation you could give to support the cause of Marriage Equality.

Thank you
Laura & Mary"
