Elections May 2014

campaign_banner_rectangular_horizontal_reference 2 Elections for the European Parliament and Local Government will take place on the 23rd of May next.

Both are important opportunities for all of us to highlight issues of equality for LGBT people such as marriage equality.

What can you do?

  1. Make sure you are registered to vote www.checktheregister.ie (closing date to register is May 6th, postal and special supplement closing date May 26th)

  2. See if your EU candidates has signed the ILGA Europe pledge to take a stand on human rights and LGBTI equality in Europe: http://www.ilga-europe.org/home/how_we_work/european_institutions/ep2014/candidate

and if they haven’t encourage them to do so.

  1. Ask local candidates to add their voice as a champion for equality by publically endorsing a ‘Yes’ vote in the marriage equality referendum next year.

  2. Let us know how you get on. Email us on info@marriagequality.ie or call us on (01)7994528

Most importantly don’t forget to vote on the 23rd of May! Have your say and be part of shaping local and European Government and equality and rights for LGBT people in Ireland and Europe.
