Press release, Sunday 10 May 2015

The Yes Equality campaign bus, which has been on a nationwide tour of towns and villages across Ireland making the case for a Yes vote on 22 May, rolled into Dun Laoghaire today (Sunday 10 May 2015) where it was warmly welcomed by Yes Equality campaigners, alongside Marian Keyes, Eamon Gilmore TD and others.

Attending today’s event in Dun Laoghaire, best-selling novelist Marian Keyes said, “I’m voting yes because it’s the right, fair and decent thing to do. We have the chance as a nation to do something that will make a difference for the good – I can’t see a down side to a Yes vote.”

Speaking on the bus’s arrival in Dun Laoghaire today, Yes Equality spokesperson Grainne Healy said:

“We started the bus tour to start a conversation as to why we believe a Yes on 22 May is important to all of us – our friends, families and neighbours. Over the last two-and-a-half weeks, in over 40 towns across the country, we’ve had thousands of conversations with voters, answering their questions and asking for their votes.”

“So far, we’ve had a very warm reception and have had some very moving conversations. The bus tour reaffirms for us how generous, warm and inclusive Irish people are towards their lesbian and gay children, family members, friends and neighbours, and shows the remarkable journey Irish people have been on over the last two decades towards full equality for lesbian and gay people.”
