Couples Say Yes To Love
These are the stories of Marriage Equality supporters - real couples with real love stories, talking about why marriage matters to them.
We are a couple who support Marriage Equality fully. We have a daughter and are a happy family. It will change our lives forever if we can both have the same equal rights within our family when the referendum comes along. We are delighted with the results of the Constitutional Convention and look forward to the chance to hopefully have marriage equality in Ireland.
Equality needs to happen for us and our families.
I have many gay and lesbian friends and have had gay relationships myself. I see no issue with a same sex relationship having the right to marriage. Love is love. They also deserve the rights to try to raise a family. Why would being gay make you less loving as a wife/husband or parent?
Our voices need to be heard. We love each other very much and it would be nice to have the support of our country in celebrating our love. It's time for change and the time is now!! We are human beings in love.
We are together 4 years and are married 6 weeks now.
Civil partnership is a step in the right direction but we're not quite there yet.We need to strive for full and equal rights as i have no intention of referring to my wife as "my civil partner".
I never really took much notice to marriage until i fell in love with Shireen. As i get older and all my friends are getting married i now realise i cannot move on to the next part of our relationship...
I grew up in Dublin, but have been living here in Boston for 13 yrs. I live with my husband Joe, our 3-yr-old daughter Emily, and our 13-yr old dog-child, Bailey! It's wonderful to live in a community and city where our family is accepted and recognized, and I wish the same can come true in Ireland.
[P]eople like us love each other and maybe they wanna be together their entire life. It's so difficult to be apart! I hope something happens soon, cause I love him so much!
Marriage and marriage equality now matter to me because I have found the person I want to spend the rest of my life with and that is truly the most wonderful feeling I have ever experienced. I want my partner and I to have safety and security when it comes to our lives, our home, our finances and the children we may have. I want us to naturally be able to adopt each other's surnames and I want people to hear that I am married and for them to know that there is no difference between my marriage and a heterosexual

Oh, to be taxed as a married couple!
"I've been turned to Marriage Equality thanks to Mary, when we met I always thought that the EU would force Ireland to legislate for same sex marriage, but she's taught me the need to fight. We don't want any special treatment, just to have our relationships the same in the eyes of the law as any other couples'. I hope that one day I'll be able to call her my wife."
"We made a donation to Marriage Equality as we fully support their cause and hard work and also wanted to highlight this and raise awareness amongst our family and friends"
"We realise that we are lucky in that we could afford to get married as far away as Canada, and that this is not an option open to everyone."
