Individuals Say Yes To Love
Support for marriage equality doesn't just come from same sex couples - it comes from individuals who believe in equality for everyone. Young, old, LGBT, straight... our supporters share why marriage equality is important to them.
I believe that everyone should have the chance to marry the love of their life if they want to, including family members and friends who I love dearly. That is equality.
Marriage is not an exclusive religious construct but a civil one as well. EVERY CITIZEN should therefore be allowed enjoy its protecton.
I fully support marriage equality for everybody.
My friends and family respect my choice in partner equally to if they were male. They see do not see any difference between the love I feel for my girlfriend and the love they feel for their partner. Why does the Irish government not see this too then?
I don't like inequality in any way.Inequality disgusts me. I dream of a day when everyone is treated equally and I admire Harvey so much for all the wonderful work he did towards equality. I know and have known gay people and they deserve the same rights as us straight people and it annoys me that they don't have the same rights.
It's about acceptance and the understanding that true love doesn't distinguish and it can come at any given moment in a person's life, regardless of their past and traits.
Tiocfaidh Our Love!
85 year old mother of 15 Madeline Connolly says "yes" to love.
I am an Irish citizen, living in Boston, MA for the past 11 years. I have been with my American partner for 10 of those years and we exercised our legal right to get married here in Massachusetts this past October. It was a great day!
"...on seeing this (Marriage Equality) badge, one of my friends produced his wallet. To my amazement, he produced a Marriage Equality badge himself, which he had got during Dublin Pride. He'd read about the subject, thought the idea was very good and was talking to someone from the organisation about it for ages."
