Labour Deputy Leader raises tax rights for gay and lesbian couples

Evidence that the issue of equality for gay and lesbian people is increasingly moving onto the political agenda came today with a statement by the Labour Party Deputy Leader, Joan Burton TD, on taxation rights for same sex couples.
Deputy Burton challenged the Government on the unfair treatment of gay and lesbian couples on matters of taxation.

MarriagEquality believes that the only way for fairness in the taxation system for gay and lesbian couples is to allow them to marry under the same rules as heterosexual couples and tax them in the same manner. Anything less is unfair and discriminatory.
