Expert outlines case for gay and lesbian parents

The respected and renowned academic expert in the field of gay and lesbian families, Professor Susan Golombok of Cambridge University, writes in today's Irish Times thatit is the quality of parenting, rather than the gender of the parents, that influences a child's upbringing.

Professor Golombok states: "what seems to matter most for children's healthy psychological development in families with same-sex parents is the same as in families headed by heterosexual parents - warmth and security in combination with an appropriate level of discipline and control."
