Independent Senator Katherine Zappone is passionate about equality and puts community at the heart of public life. As an educator and entrepreneur, Katherine has thirty years of experience working with the people of Dublin South West. Katherine is running for the Dáil because she believes that a more equal Ireland can be achieved. As a founder of Marriage Equality, a core partner of YesEquality, and a leading campaigner over the past decade, Katherine Zappone knows that determination and perseverance can achieve positive results to change society for the better.

Speaking about her campaign, Katherine said:

“I am running as an Independent because Irish politics needs people with the freedom to think creatively and act courageously now more than ever. As an Independent candidate I do not have the resources or financial backing that the major political parties have, so fundraising and financial contributions from friends and supporters is essential to win. The campaign will cost over €20,000, so I will be running some fundraising events to raise this.”

“If you wish to support my campaign, you can do so by making a donation to the campaign, buying a ticket to my upcoming fundraiser event, or simply by volunteering some of your time to help me on the campaign trail. “

“I will be holding a 3 course lunch in the Thomas Prior Hall, Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge (formerly Bewley's Hotel), at 12:45pm on Friday October 23rd, and I hope you can join me for this event.

You can buy lunch and raffle tickets here:

If you would prefer not to buy online, then please email and I will arrange tickets for you.”

“If you cannot attend the lunch but would still like to contribute to the campaign, you can do so on my website here: Any help you can give me, no matter how small would be gratefully received.”

“We have specially priced lunch tickets for OAP’s and students, a limited amount of early bird discounted tickets, and a limited amount tickets will receive a signed copy of Ann Louise’s and my book ‘Our Lives Our Loud’. We will also have a host of great raffle prizes including a signed Ireland rugby jersey, two beautiful signed Joe Caslin prints, signed CDs from the Coronas and Mary Black, a selection of vouchers for restaurants in Dublin, plus many more prizes.”

“If you are willing to assist me in any other way in the general election or have any questions, then please email me on”
