The recently married Eamon Farrell and his husband Steven Mannion are MarriagEquality's October Advocates of the Month.

Eamon and Steven have been supporting MarriagEquality since the first fundraiser, by generously donating art to help raise much need funds to help kick-start the campaign.

The couple have also given a voice to the issue many times in our National papers recounting the story of their marriage in Canada and their desire to have their marriage recognised in Ireland. Eamon was recently interviewed by the Evening Herald talking about a family member who "...was saying to me how strange it was that as soon as we hit Toronto, we've got every single legal right that everybody in Canada has. But as soon as we arrive into Dublin Airport, we don't."

Eamon and Steven are also participants in MarriagEquality's Out to Your TD campaign. Irish politicians claim that constituents do not raise the issue of equal marriage rights with them and thus it is not on their radar. We must tell our politicians what we want if we expect full equality and this is exactly what Eamon and Steven are doing.

To all you wedding hopefuls out there, Eamon has a few words of encouragement, "Married life is absolutely fantastic - I would highly recommend it to anyone."

A very big thank you to Eamon and Steven for being such wonderful advocates and may you have a long and happy marriage together. One day we hope that through our work with you and all of our supporters from all over Ireland, your marriage will be recognised here and those who chose to do so can marry the person they love.
