LGBT History Month - Celebrate the History of the Marriage Equality Movement
19 February 2013, 6:30 PM
** UPDATE 18.02.2013 - this event will now take place in the SEMINAR ROOM at the National Library of Ireland **
Come and share your part in the history of the marriage equality movement in Ireland so far......
As part of LGBT History month this February, Marriage Equality, LGBT Noise and The National Lesbian and Gay Federation (NLGF) would like to invite you to help document the history of the marriage equality movement in Ireland to date.
Grainne Healy, Chairperson of Marriage Equality, will chair the event and begin the conversation with a panel of some of the people who have played a significant part in the movement to date.
Una Mullally, journalist, will also join us as part of her project to record an oral history of the movement. We would like to invite you as individuals or people working in groups and organisations on the issue of marriage equality to join us for an evening to mark how far we have come together, share the part you have played and to begin the process of recording as many stories as possible about the history of the movement for equality for same sex couples, our families and our children in Ireland.
We would also like to invite you to bring copies of materials such as placards, flyers, posters, leaflets, printed articles, DVDs of radio or TV interviews that you or your organisation have produced so we can collect them for the Irish Queer Archives.
We are almost there but have some hurdles to jump before we complete this last lap. Let's take this opportunity to celebrate and document our achievements to date as part of LGBT History month.
